Iceland and France Adventures!

Hello everyone!

Well Josh and I got back last week after an amazing trip, and have only just recovered from the jet-lag! I've added some more photos to the album if you're interested. I had to change the location as Picassa was doing strange things, so this link is different.

We spent 2 weeks in France after Iceland, a few days in Paris and then down South to the Dordogne region - famous for its medieval villages and chateaus on every hilltop!  Josh's cousin's family live in Paris so it was lovely to catch up and to have a base there, and people to show us around and translate for us (when we went off by ourselves we accidentally ordered a duck gizzard salad...).

Anyway, all very pretty, but Iceland was the highlight in terms of sheer beauty and interesting & unusual sights. To quickly summarise the rest of that part of the trip, we saw loads more giant waterfalls, bathed in lovely bright blue hotsprings, drove through treacherous narrow mountain passes, climbed volcanoes.. and finally spotted some puffins perched on top of the highest cliffs!  Trudging through thick snow on the way to Dettifoss waterfall was exhausting, but worth it. We took a short cut on the way back, only to see a small sign at the end of the road saying "CAUTION: deep water. Don't walk off the path!".

This was a great adventure, but it's nice to be home. Those of you we haven't caught up with yet, hope to see you soon!

Love to all,
Anna and Josh

Later (27 June):
I (PF/Dad) chose some photos from Anna's link above, and here they are, below.  (I've labelled those that Anna had labelled in the link.  Anna: if you want any more labelled, let me know and I can do; or you can do yourself).
Must say (again!) some stunning images you took!  (Earlier images and a Picasa link are in the post immediately before this).

  2. Thanks! Glad you like them, and thanks for putting more up here. Yep, it was hard to stop taking photos in Iceland, so many to sort through when we got home!

  3. Yes, I agree with P, terrific piccies -- of both countries. Very evocative. Did you make a note of where you stayed that you really liked? I'm thinking of the Air BnB place in France, which you said was "another star", and cottages in Iceland -- and of course am thinking of me staying there too! Luv, Anne X

  4. Sure, here are the two airbnb places we stayed in France, both lovely! https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/863640

The Iceland accom. was all through booking.com. Mostly the simple, budget friendly kind, but we still found some really sweet places. I can send you some details if you're thinking of going!
